Image Searching

An Exploration

  • When searching for images it is important to be flexible, creative, and remember it may take more than one try to find adequate results
  • You can try searching databases with keywords or browsing collections but whatever method you choose remember to look for images that have a clear copyright message (you want free to use and change). You will still need to provide attribution - a proper citation. See the search bot example below.

Citation Formatting (APA)

Basic Format for an Electronic Image

Author (Role of Author). (Year image was created). Title of work [Type of work], Retrieved from URL (address of website)

Note: If you can only find the screen name of an author (such as a photographer on Flickr), that will do as the author's name.
