About SAAM

Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) is observed every April in the United States to raise public awareness about sexual assault and to educate individuals and communities on how to prevent sexual violence.

The goal of SAAM is to increase awareness and understanding of sexual assault, promote prevention efforts, and provide support to survivors. During SAAM, various events and activities are organized to encourage conversations about sexual assault and to educate people about the resources available to survivors.

SAAM was first observed in the United States in 2001, and it has since grown into a national movement, with thousands of organizations and individuals participating in activities and events across the country. The month is recognized as an opportunity to unite and mobilize communities to take action to end sexual violence.
