The IEEE Xplore digital library is a resource for discovery of scientific and technical content published by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and its publishing partners. It contains the.full text of all IEEE and IEE journal articles, conference papers, and standards. Tutorials are available at: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/Xplorehelp/ieee-xplore-training/video-tutorials
The O’Reilly digital platform includes more than 38,000 book titles and more than 30,000 hours of video. Topics range from programming to IT networking to project management to graphic design to business strategy. The content includes code snippets, certification preparation materials, practice exercises, training videos, and much more. Users can search thousands of books simultaneously online, saving time and quickly finding the information they need.

Interlibrary Loan
If there is something you need that the WPI library doesn't have, you can request your item through interlibrary loan. Our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service allows WPI students and faculty to request items from other libraries free of charge.
Keywords & Subject Headings:
When looking for resources in the Gordon Library catalog, a good initial strategy to guide your search is using subject headings as your keywords.
Subject headings are preferred, standardized terms developed by subject area experts, whereas 'keywords' are generally based upon natural or subjective language.
WPI uses Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH). Keyword searches look at most (if not all) of the words in a catalog record, but subject searches only look for words in the subject heading fields. Subject searches are more precise, creating specific results. Consider some of the approaches recommended by librarians in the following video--

Feedback forms from playtesting video games counts as doing qualitative research (e.g. running a survey), and requires IRB approval. Or, if you plan to publish any research from your time here as an IMGD student, you need the IRB to know about your research and either approve it or accept the exemption form.(Psst - archiving your thesis/project/essay/results in the WPI digital repository counts as publishing!)
The exemption application is also in the CS guide. Exempt research still requires IRB review and approval, but is exempt from other requirements, such as annual renewal and, in some cases, informed consent.
IRB training is done through the CITI online program. To take the IRB training:
1) visit https://www.citiprogram.org
2) click "register"
3) enter "Worcester Polytechnic Institute" and check the two boxes below
4) click "Continue to Create Your CITI Program Username/Password", do not complete "Independent Learner Registration" (it does not apply and costs $$)
5) select "Social and Behavioral Research Investigators" (not "Undergraduate Student Projects")
6) Click "Complete Registration"
7) Click "Finalize Registration", then
8) "View Courses" and finally "Start Now" to take the course.
Ask your professor or a research librarian if you have questions about the IRB process, the purpose of this form, the purpose of Prof. Claypool's guide, or anything else related.
