Citation Practice Overview and Resources

The Politics of Citation: This is an idea that calls attention to the inequities in citation practices. In Dr. Sarah Ahmed's "Making Feminist Points," she states that citation is "a rather successful reproductive technology, a way of reproducing the world around certain bodies." (2013). She argues that common citation practices elevate and reproduce the status of traditionally white, male, scholars and systems of knowledge while excluding marginalized populations who can also add to the scholarly discourse.
