How to Find Books in WPI Library Search

Books are important sources of historical scholarship. To find books at the Gordon Library:

  • Enter your keywords into WPI Library Search
  • On the search results page, click on Resource Type on the left, and then select the Books filter
  • To limit your search to online books, go to the Availability filter on the left and select Available online
  • To limit your search to print booksgo to the Availability filter on the left and select Available on shelf

How to Access Books

Ebooks: Many of Gordon Library's books are available digitally, and you can access these via the links in WPI Library Search. For example:

 

Print books: When you find a print book in the WPI Library Search, look for the book's location and call number: 

For General Collection books, call numbers A-N are on the 3rd floor of the library, and call numbers P-Z are on the 1st floor. (Please note that the main entrance to the library is on the 2nd floor.) Third Floor Browsing Books are located on the 3rd floor. Popular Reading books are organized by author and are located on the 2nd floor (main floor). 

You can check books out at the information services desk on the main floor. Your WPI ID is your library card. 

 

Curbside service: If you do not wish to enter the library, you can borrow books through our no-contact curbside service. Books can be requested for curbside pick-up through the library’s online catalog. You will receive a confirmation email when your items are ready, and you can contact us at 508-831-5410 to schedule your pick-up.  

How to request a book via WPI Library Search:

  • When you find a print book you want in WPI Library Search, click on the title of the book. Then go to the Get It section and click Sign in.

  • Use your WPI login credentials to sign in. Then click on Request. 

  • After your book has been retrieved, you will receive an email about setting up a pickup time.
