IOP

Institute of Physics (IOP) TA/Read & Publish Agreement (2025-2027)

Overview

Corresponding authors from Worcester Polytechnic Institute can now publish open access with a CC BY 4.0 license in almost all IOP Publishing journals. The WPI agreement covers journals in List(s) A, B, C and D.  Additionally, WPI continues to benefit from unrestricted access to the IOP premium journal package of over 90 titles.

The Read & Publish agreement with IOP (Institute of Physics) requires zero administration by authors as they (IOP) identify papers automatically in order to publish them open access under our agreement.  Details can be found here.

IOP Journals included in WPI's agreement

Journals included are indicated in the following lists A, B, C, D:

  • List A: Journals included in all transformative agreements;
  • List B: Society partner journals;
  • List C: The Electrochemical Society journals;
  • List D: Gold open access journals.

Eligibility

All IOP agreements are based on the corresponding author at the time of submission. The corresponding author is the person listed as Corresponding Author at the time of submission, and is the person responsible for communicating with the journal during the peer review and publication process. Corresponding authors simply need to submit their work as they normally would, ensuring that their affiliation is correct at submission, and IOP will identify if it is eligible, and contact the author to let them know. IOP checks corresponding authors’ affiliations against all known variations of institution name to ensure they capture eligible articles under an agreement.

License

Articles published through transformative agreements are published under a CC BY 4.0 license. This license lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon the author’s work, even commercially, as long the original work is appropriately credited. [Authors can opt out of open access publishing under the transformative agreement; Publishing within a TA is always the author’s choice.]
