Library Services For You: Beyond WPI

Public Libraries

Many public libraries offer access to their online resources. For example, the Boston Public Library allows patrons to use their electronic resources from home. Boston Public Library resources are open to all Massachusetts residents. WPI students count as Massachusetts residents. If you don't have a Boston Public Library card, you can sign up for an e-card: https://www.bpl.org/ecard/

Interlibrary Loan

The Interlibrary Loan service allows current WPI students, faculty, and staff to request items from other libraries free of charge. ILLiad is the library system used to process interlibrary loan requests.

Off-campus access to articles and short reports requested via ILL:

Articles and short reports will be uploaded to your ILLiad account for viewing, printing, and downloading. Articles posted to your account will be available for 30 days. To retrieve your articles, follow the link to ILLiad that is embedded in the email notification. To access your PDF, click the "Electronically Received Articles" link in the View menu.

Off-campus access to books requested via ILL:

If you are on campus, books, videos, and other loaned items can be picked up and returned at the Information Desk. If you are off campus, you can use this service to get Interlibrary Loan and Gordon Library books shipped to you. Contact lib-ill@wpi.edu with your delivery method preferences.

Please note: Physical Interlibrary Loan items, such as books, DVDs, CDs, cannot be delivered out of country.
