  • Juneteenth celebrates the liberation of enslaved Black Americans, and has been celebrated in various parts of the United States since June 19th, 1865
  • President Joe Biden recognized Juneteenth as a holiday on June 19th, 2021 - though the holiday was first recognized by Texas in 1980 
  • Juneteenth also celebrates African-American culture
