A note about searching for DEIB materials:
Academic libraries, such as Gordon Library, use the Library of Congress Classification system to organize books by subject which in turn determine where the book is found on a shelf if it is a print book.
These "subject headings," as they are technically called, often use outdated or antiquated terms that today may be considered offensive by members of the communities they are meant to represent. Unfortunately, sometimes we may still need to use these terms to find the relevant materials we are looking for.
The Gordon Library and Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Multicultural Education (ODIME) have designed this guide to provide resources on the topics of diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging.
